Production
Camera set-up for each of the five shoots
Shooting Diary
Production Shoot 1 - 16th October 2019
This first shoot was successful because I was able to rehearse and shoot scenes 1, 7 & 8. An issue that arose, which meant that we had to re-film scene 1, was that each camera was set up differently. This issue was solved by making sure that each camera was set up with the same white balance, record speed and shutter speed. We recorded sound using the shotgun mics. An issue that arose with sound was that some of the footage we shot did not pick up sound so therefore we had to re-shoot scene 1.
Production Shoot 2 - 17th October 2019
This second shoot was successful because I was able to rehearse and shoot scenes 2, 3 & 6. We recorded sound using the shotgun mics. Upon reflection from yesterday's shoot, I made sure that the white balance, record speed and shutter speed were all the same for each camera and also, I made sure that the time codes were set for each camera.
Production Shoot 3 - 29th October 2019
This third shoot was successful because I was able to rehearse and shoot scenes 4 & 9. We recorded sound using the shotgun mics and lit the studio using spotlights and studio lighting.
Production Shoot 4 - 4th November 2019
This fourth shoot was successful because I was able to film each of the four sequences for the opening titles. We lit the studio using spotlights.
Production Shoot 5 - 7th November 2019
This final shoot was successful because I was able to successfully re-film scene 9 because the framing of the footage on the original shoot was incorrect. We lit the studio using spotlights.
Editing
In the early scenes, there were little bits of green screen that leaked into the footage. In editing, I rectified this using the 'Ultra Key' effect and changing the key colour to green so that in the final edit, the green screen blends in with the black background.
For the most part, I want the film to give off a negative atmosphere and when I incorporated a lot of the footage into the edit, I felt the lighting was too bright so therefore, I rectified this using the Brightness & Contrast effect to reduce the brightness of the shot so that the final edit looks darker, giving off a more negative atmosphere.
In some of the footage, the audio quality was poor so therefore, I rectified this by using the Audio effects to increase the volume so in the final edit, the audio is louder.
In one scene, I decided I wanted a piece of music to increase the tensional atmosphere that I had intended to set so I found a copyright free piece of music that I felt suited the mood I wanted to create and put an extract of it into the footage.
In a scene where my character has to punch someone, I wanted this scene to give off a big impact so therefore, I found a copyright free punch sound effect and incorporated it into the footage.
Trailer for my Live Drama
In addition to my live drama, I put together a trailer for it because I wanted to experiment to see if the multi-camera element works within a film trailer. I believe that it works really well.

ReplyDeleteMain thing I suggest is keep a notebook, and every time something happens, good or bad, you write it down. Then when it comes to writing up your description of what happened you know exactly what to write.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to record your production (shoot and edit) successes and challenges (problems solved) on this page. Do this as you go each time you are operating a camera and Pr.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your feedback, Foxy! I have recorded my successes & challenges for each shoot
